Facing the Ericeira challenger, the Peruvian chose his training spot well; “every day here is crazy because there are always waves,” he told DUKE.

An intelligent competitor, as he has always proven to be, Lucca Mesinas left the Pan American Games in Panama for El Salvador, to train for the next challenger who has similar conditions: Ericeira.
This video makes it clear that he has his frontside sharpened to guarantee himself a top 10 finish upon his return to the CT.
"I went to El Salvador to train, obviously with an eye on Ericeira, which is my next important event on the World Surf League calendar. In Ericeira I'll be surfing right-handers and I wanted to train on right-handers, to continue improving the frontside, so I came here to Puro Surf where there's a gym and everything, so I've been doing physical training, surfing in El Zonte and running in Punta Rocas on good days," he told DUKE.
"There were two swells in the last two weeks, after the Pan American Games in Panama. The first was the swell that caused giant waves to break in Chile and Peru. It was good here, there were three days of perfect waves in Punta Roca and then, yesterday and the day before yesterday, another swell came that wasn't as big as the other one but it was also good and I was able to get some good footage," he added.
"But still, every day here is crazy because there are always waves. I have surfed in El Zonte and on average days there are always waves to train and I feel good, happy to have had the time to train frontside, I have been able to improve a few things and I think it will help me a lot for the next events," he concluded.
