Lucca Mesinas, Jhonny Corzo and Regina Pioli will also be in the CT of Mexico

It will be the CT event in history with the largest number of Hispanic Americans; three men and three women

Peruvian Lucca Mesinas and Mexicans Regina Pioli and Jhonny Corzo will compete in the Barra de la Cruz CT, Mexico, which begins on August 9, the WSL and the surfers themselves reported on their social networks.

They will join Shelby Detmers and Diego Cadena, who were already guaranteed to participate in the event after winning the trials, and Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy, who is a member of the CT. This makes Mexico the CT event with the largest Hispanic-American participation in history.

Mesinas becomes the second Peruvian man in history to compete in a CT, the first being Miguel Tudela who participated in the Pipe Masters last December.

“(I am) super happy to announce that I will be competing at the CT in Mexico, I want to give a big thank you to the WSL for the incredible opportunity. Time to represent my Peru at another big event,” Lucca said on her Instagram.

Meanwhile, Cadena and Corzo will be making their second Mexican appearance in a CT, after Óscar Moncada participated in the historic Rip Curl The Search in 2006, which was won by Andy Irons.

Detmers and Pioli become the first Mexican women to compete in a CT.

The number of open places is due to the departures of Lakey Peterson, Nikki Van Dijk, John John Florence, Julian Wilson, Jordy Smith and Jack Freestone.
Rio Waida from Indonesia and Mateus Herdy from Brazil will also compete.
