Lucca Messinas also guaranteed his place in Tokyo 2020
Whether it's for the World Cup in El Salvador or for Lima 2019, Mesinas qualified for the Olympic Games; Argentine Leandro Usuna remains expectant
Special coverage presented by Surf City El Salvador
Peruvian Lucca Mesinas has secured his place in Tokyo 2020 after his compatriot, Alonso Correa, fell today in his round 6 repechage series, eliminating any chance of jeopardizing the spot he achieved in Lima 2019.
Messinas can guarantee his place through El Salvador if he manages to get into the top 5 eligible teams and if that doesn't happen he will go to Lima 2019.
If this happens, Messinas will lose his place in Lima 2019 and Leandro Usuna of Argentina, runner-up in that tournament, will qualify.
Tomorrow Lucca Mesinas will compete in the eighth round of the repechage against his compatriot Miguel Tudela and local Bryan Pérez.
