Peruvians Lucca Mesinas and Tomás Tudela became the first Hispanic surfers to set foot in the round of the best 64 surfers of the Hang Loose Pro Contest, the seventh QS event of the year, the first of the 6000 level that today contested its second day of competition at Cacimba do Padre in Fernando de Noronha.
The two entered consecutive heats which they easily won, both heats with big names: Mesinas first beat Madson Costa, Jack Robinson and Vitor Ferreira and Tudela did the same with Jadson André, Flavio Nakagima and Harley Ross.
Jhonny Corzo, Nacho Sebastia and Jhonny Guerrero (in the heats that remained from round 1) were not as lucky, nor were Tomas King (who faced Medina and had him behind on the scoreboard for a while, but Medina is Medina), nor Alonso Correa, nor Carlos Muñoz, nor Nicolás Vargas (who took a while to mark his opponent after moving into second and seeing him lose the classification in the final moments).
In the series that had been pending from round 1, the Uruguayan Marco Giorgi and the Argentine Nacho Gundensen went through, who had convincing performances and are now promoted to the series that remained from round 2.
Also missing are Noe Mar McGonagle, Miguel Tudela and Aritz Aranburu who have not yet touched the water because they were pre-qualified in the last round 2 heats.
