Peruvian Lucca Mesinas won his heat in the final of the main surfing event in Lima 2019 and made it to the grand final, guaranteeing at least the silver medal for Peru.
He beat Salvadoran Bryan Pérez in the repechage final, giving him no chance after scoring two 8,5s and placing him in a combination position.
Now he will wait in the grand final for the winner of the final series of the repechage between Leandro Usuna and Bryan Pérez. Whoever loses will win the bronze and whoever wins will go to the grand final.
Mesinas surfed solid throughout the event and is now the only male shortboarder to make it to the grand final undefeated.
