I found out about the camp because Megan (a link with the International Surfing Association athletes) approached me at the ISA World Championships and told me that there was going to be this camp and that I could apply to be part of it because I had done well at the World Championships; she told me this right at the awards ceremony.
And I applied to see if I could be chosen and after a few weeks I was accepted.
I didn't hesitate to go, obviously, who doesn't want to go to Tahiti? It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to and it was also good training to get to know the waves if I manage to qualify for the Olympics.
The camp was amazing, we had jet skis, security, filmers, photographers, coaches, everything. It was a dream; they took me to the line up to run Teahupoo every day, they coached us, they told us where to sit, which were the best waves to surf, they gave us an incredible explanation of how the line up worked. I think I learned a lot.

As for the wave, we didn't catch it very big, it must have been six feet at most, but it was incredible because even if it's one meter high, the wave is always a tube.
It didn't seem like a difficult wave to me because it wasn't very big, but I was told that when it's very big, three or four metres or more, the wave changes a lot and becomes much more difficult.
Anyway, I was left wanting to try a bigger Teahupoo to see how it felt, but the size I got it on seemed really good, maybe a little easier than Pipe in the same size because Pipe has a lot of different things: The peak on the rights and lefts, the strong offshore that sometimes doesn't let you get into the wave, whereas here it's a perfect point...
It was like you were catching the wave and no one was bothering you because the locals were very respectful and cool, so all of that made it easier to catch the wave and surf it the way you wanted.
I felt very comfortable and it seemed to me that it was a perfect wave, easy and nice, but, as I told you: at three, four meters it must be a different story, a different intensity.
It was an amazing experience!
