Lucca Mesinas was almost sent to the elimination round
0,23 was what distanced him from Seth Moniz; now he awaits rivals in the all or nothing that is the repechage

By a very narrow margin, Peruvian Lucca Mesinas was sent to the elimination round in his debut at the MEO Portugal Pro, stage 3 of the CT 2022.
Mesinas played a smart series, as is his characteristic, finding good scores and building the house while Seth Moniz remained relatively calm.
Owen Wright, for his part, made showy moves and convinced the judges to receive a higher score.
Lucca's best wave was a strong backside paddle in the pocket of a heat wave, receiving a 5,3 which he backed up with a 4,13 to score 9,43. Moniz scored 9,46 (5,03+4,63).
Mesinas made several attempts to get the 4,26 he needed but the judges did not give it to him. In his last three waves he paid 3,37, 3,57 and 3,77.
Now he will be in the elimination round where Jake Marshall, Kelly Slater and Vasco Ribeiro have already fallen.
There are eight series left to be completed in Round 1, which are expected to go into the water tomorrow.
