Lucca Messinas will miss QS 6000 in Japan due to a back injury
The best Peruvian in the world ranking is recovering in California from a discopathy

Lucca Mesinas, ranked 11th in the QS rankings, announced on her social media and later confirmed to DUKE that she will be missing the next stages of the world circuit due to a lower back injury resulting from the wear and tear of constant travel and the resulting poor posture.
He explained that this caused one of his discs to become injured and affected a nerve, which led to one of his feet feeling numb. A month ago, during the live broadcast of the final day of the QS 1500 Krui Pro in Indonesia, the commentators indicated that Mesinas had felt numbness in his foot, but did not give further details.
“At the Krui championships my foot was asleep. I thought for a moment that it was numb, I thought that was it but my foot never woke up. I went to Bali to see a doctor and they did a nerve test and it seems that one of my nerves in my spine is weak,” said Lucca from California, adding that her foot is already feeling much better.
“The injury was not caused by surfing or anything like that. Apparently it was caused by so much traveling, so much flying and sitting and carrying backpacks and not resting. This year, more than anything, I have been traveling a lot all over the place without stopping, sleeping little, and apparently that has caused wear and tear on the lower part of my back,” added the Peruvian.
Mesinas explained that he has already been out of the water for a few days, doing physiotherapy, spinal hygiene and strengthening his abdominal muscles, and that he expects two or three more weeks. He will miss the QS 6000 in Japan but hopes to be fit for the QS 10.000 Ballito Pro.
