Peruvians María Fernanda Reyes and Piccolo Clemente are one step away from medals at the ISA World Longboard Championships after making it through their respective round 4 heats of the main event. Now, with the repechage still an option, they have a good chance of securing medals.

Reyes finished first in her series against Frenchwoman Alice Lemoigne (second) and Australian Tully White (third) and tomorrow she will play for her ticket against Lemoigne herself, Japanese player Natsumi Taoka and American player Soleil Errico.

On the other hand, with the elimination of Ana Camila, Kaspar Reyes guaranteed her place in Lima 2019 (if Kaspar finished in France as the best American in the tournament, she would have displaced María Fernanda).

Piccolo Clemente, meanwhile, won his round 4 heat against France's Edouard Delpero (second), Hawaii's Kai Sallas and Australia's Declan Wyton. With this result, he and Delpero will face Ben Howey and the elder Delpero, Antoine, in the main event's grand final.

Lucas Garrido Lecca is still in the race, so Clemente could not confirm his place in Lima 2019, although he is very close.

Meanwhile, Dorian Torres of Costa Rica, who had reached round 4 of the main event, was unable to overcome the tough battle between Antoine Delpero (first) and Ben Howey (second). He placed fourth in his heat and now fell to round 6 of the repechage.

In the repechage, the Uruguayans Julián Schweizer and Nacho Pignataro performed well, making it to round 5 along with the Argentine Martín Pérez and the Peruvian Lucas Garrido Lecca.

Chilean Rafael Cortez, who confirmed his place in Lima 2019, was eliminated from the event. Alberto de Mario, Jon Irigoyen, Marcelo Morán and Jonathan Melendres were also eliminated.

Among the women, the surprise was the defeat of the talented Argentine Teté Gil, who was eliminated in the third round by a Brazilian and a South African. Her compatriot, Evelyn Gontier, also said goodbye to the championship.

With these results, Peru is ranked third in the partial team standings, which has France and the United States in first place with all of its competitors still alive in the tournament.

Lucas Garrido Lecca was at times left out but at the last minute he found the one that gave him passage to the next round.
