Mafer Reyes won the South American longboard vice-championship

Piccolo Clemente finished third in the event and William Saldaña fifth


Peruvian María Fernanda Reyes has just won the South American longboard championship. She was unable to beat Brazilian Chlo Calmón in the grand final by 15,10 (7,17+7,93) to 10,24 (4,67+5,57).

Prior to the decision, the Lima native defeated Brazilians Luana Soares in the semis, Jasmin Avelino in the quarterfinals, and Monique Pontes and Uruguayan Inés Beisso in the first round.

Former world champion Piccolo Clemente placed third in the event. The Huanchaco native had been having a great championship, winning all the series he participated in until he met local Rodrigo Sphaier in the semis, who beat him by 14,10 (8+6,1) to 12,7 (6,37+6,33).

In round 3 of the event, Clemente had beaten Sphaier in a four-person battery.

Prior to that series, Clemente beat local Eduardo Bagé by 14,44 to 13,03.

Another Peruvian player, Willian Saldaña, also stood out for his performance. He lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual champion of the event, Tony Silvagni.
