Lima surfer María Fernanda Reyes won gold in the women's longboard category after beating her classic rival, Chloe Calmón from Brazil, in the grand final.

Reyes spent the entire 30-minute series without taking waves while Calmón surfed waves but with very low scores; he had added 6,64 (3,47 + 3,17).

A left came towards the Peruvian and she took advantage of it to make 7,5 and with a single wave beat Calmón who has beaten the Peruvian on more than one occasion, and is the defending champion of this tournament.

Once the series was over, María Fernanda said that she didn't know that the victory was hers.

He said he was very happy to have achieved the title he had been seeking and that he would now rest for the next tests.
