Manuel Lezcano asked the authorities of Lanzarote to protect surfable waves
"Waves like El Quemao, the left of La Santa, etc., world class level 10, should never be touched by the hand of man," he said.
The prominent Lanzarote big rider, Manuel Lezcano, asked the Lanzarote authorities to protect surfable waves, reported the local news portal The Voice of Lanzarote.
"Waves like El Quemao, the left of La Santa, etc., world class level 10, should never be touched by the hand of man," said the surfer.
Lezcano wants the island's authorities to follow the steps of the Fuerteventura Council, which approved a catalogue with 46 zones to protect surfing and windsurfing on Monday.
Associations, clubs on the island and other entities collaborated in the initiative.Among the conservation measures is the distance that a work must have so as not to affect the waves.
The measure is in line with the surf break law that already exists in Peru and the global surfing reserves promoted by the NGO Save the Waves.
Lezcano is a world-class big rider and a very prominent tube rider.
