Tube of the month: Marco Giorgi in the depths of southern Brazil

"It was incredible and it saved my day and paid for everything; after that tube I was calmer and a couple of good ones came out," said the Uruguayan.

Uruguayan Marco Giorgi has been enjoying a series of swells that have hit southern Brazil in recent months. Of all these swells, this tube was the best since he finished his quarantine, at least that's what he believes, he told DUKE.

“It was a big swell, a big cyclone with a high period. That day there was a lot of current, it was difficult but there were some good tubes lost and in the first hour and a half I didn't catch anything. I was paddling and the waves had closed in on me, I hadn't found myself in the sea yet,” he said.

“That’s when it came in and that was amazing and it saved the day and paid for everything. After that tube I was a bit calmer and a couple of good ones came out too. I dropped it and thought it was too deep and boom, I overshot it there and the first section was thick but with a little waterfall and that’s when I said to myself: ‘I have to pass this section to make the tube’. And luckily that little waterfall that fell didn’t knock me off the board, I adjusted well and passed the foamball and from then on it was pure enjoyment. I saw that I was going to open up, I stretched a little, another section fell and it was fun,” he concluded.
