Marco and Kalama make the list of seven of the most popular kid surfers in the world.

Costa Ricans and Mexicans highlighted by international publication

Costa Rican Marco Menéndez, 10, and Mexican Kalama Stratton made the list of seven of the most stylish kid surfers on the planet, compiled by Jack O'Neill of Stab magazine.

Menendez and Stratton join Sani Hellman of Australia, Rocco Rigliaco of Italy, Zoee Bradshaw of Hawaii, Zion Walla of California, and Kelia Gallina of Teahupoo.

Marco Menéndez has stood out for his performances in free surfing at Playa Hermosa, all sizes of waves, but always breaking barrels. The kid has been able to land some really good barrels in those waves, something he's been doing for a while.

Kalama Stratton is from Puerto Escondido, the son of a surfer, and has also been riding waves since he was a kid. He's also traveled and caught great waves everywhere. A few days ago, he lost weight at Uluwatu and also got some good snorkeling in Hawaii.

“Kalama Stratton doesn't usually watch surf vlogs. He watches video game strategy analysis. This 13-year-old lives in Puerto Escondido, where La Punta serves as a daycare and launching pad. He first stood up at age two or three, supposedly under the watchful eye of his grandfather Eric,” the article about Kalama says, adding that the boy has already surfed Waimea.

Meanwhile, about the Costa Rican, they say: “Marco stood up for the first time at seven months old, riding tandem with his dad. Now he surfs every day. “I'm getting addicted,” he admits. His biggest wave so far was a 3-meter clean wave at Terrazas, Playa Hermosa. “I was really scared, but at the same time, I dream about doing stand-up barrels every day.”
