Martín Pérez and Ana Kaspar are the new Latin American longboard champions

For his part, Karol Ribeiro guaranteed the open vice-championship and with this Brazil knows that it has at least one qualified for Lima 2019.

Argentine Martín Pérez and Peruvian Ana Camila Kaspar confirmed their Latin American longboard title yesterday on a day of perfect waves in La Bocana, El Salvador, where the last date of the year is being contested.

For her part, Brazilian Karol Ribeiro won the women's event and secured the Latin American vice-championship, which gives her a chance to qualify for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.

Yesterday was the second day of dream waves of the three-day event that still has the definition of the Latin open and junior champion pending; the first is a fight between two men: Gato Chila and Suamuel Igo and the second between three: Nicolás Díaz, Vicente Díaz and Juan Pablo Yañez.

In the final, Pérez beat local Amado de Jesús Alvarado, Peruvian Lucas Garrido Lecca and another Salvadoran, Gerardo Castro, who placed fourth.

Very moved by his victory, the Argentine told ALAS: “It is always a pleasant experience to return home, the circuit that started me. This year was very long, after not competing since 2014, I decided to return with the hope of achieving the fifth championship (…). I am closing the year in a way that fills me with joy and I still can't believe it.”

Kaspar, for his part, had to watch the finale from the water because he injured his ankle while training for the tournament. The stage was won by his compatriot, María Fernanda Reyes, but the Peruvian's previous achievements were enough for her to win the title.
