She was chosen from among more than 13.000 images from 2200 photographers.

Gabriel Medina's photo of himself flying after exiting a tube at Teahupoo won the world sports photography award, several media outlets reported based on the press release from the institution that awarded the prize.

According to The Inertia, more than 2200 professional sports photographers from more than 96 countries were considered for the sports photography contest, which is the largest and most prestigious in the world, with more than 13.000 images.

And the photo by Frenchman Jerome Brouillet is one of the 24 winners, taking into account various sports such as football, basketball, cycling, gymnastics and extreme sports.

“As a judge and sponsor of the World Sports Photography Awards, I am once again inspired by the extraordinary talent and creativity on display in this year’s photography. Sports photography has a unique power to freeze dynamic action and evoke deep emotion in a single frame, capturing stories that transcend the boundaries of the playing field. It has been exciting to see the innovation and passion of this year’s entrants, who set a remarkable standard for years to come,” said Sophie Collins, Marketing Director of the event.
