Medina is “sick” about Olympic gold, says his shaper, Johnny Cabianca
"He is very focused, training every day. He wants to make the playoffs in Lowers, for sure, but the Olympics are a disease," he said.
Gabriel Medina's priority right now is to qualify for Paris 2024, his shaper Johnny Cabianca reported in an interview with the Californian-Australian website BeachGrit.
“He is very focused, training every day. He wants to make the playoffs at Lowers, for sure, but the Olympics are a sickness for him now. It would be great for him, at Teahupoo!” said the eternal Medina shaper.
Medina already has three world titles, which is what he had previously said was the biggest goal of his career.
Having achieved this, the Brazilian seems to have changed his focus or at least his main objective.
Medina was one of the biggest disappointments of Tokyo 2020, finishing fourth, angry at the judging of his heat against Kanoa Igarashi for a place in the final and the next one for bronze against Owen Wright.
