Three-time world champion Gabriel Medina is preparing his return to the world tour for the sixth CT tournament of the year to be held at G-Land between May 28 and June 6, Brazilian website UOL reported today.

According to the site, Medina had agreed with the WSL, prior to announcing his withdrawal from the tour due to mental and physical fatigue, that regardless of whether he competed in the early stages, if he decided to return he would have his wildcard.

That is to say, if this happens, of the 24 surfers who will compete in the second half of the tour, one of the two wildcard spots will be used by Medina and the other by the local wildcard of each tournament.

The note adds that Medina is now much better from the fatigue that he mentioned, which has been made public and had a lot to do with his separation from model Yasmin Brunet.

The second half of the year consists of stages in Indonesia, El Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Jbay and Tahiti.

With nine of the 10 stages remaining, it will be difficult for Medina to make it into the top five that will determine this year's world title, although with a perfect score he could achieve it.

Medina had said he had a hip injury and shared that he was undergoing physical therapy.
