Melbourne's Stab High was also cancelled due to coronavirus

The planet Earth is deserted of surfing championships

The third Stab High, the first outside of Waco, Texas, scheduled for March 21 at Melbourne Pool, has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Stab magazine reported on its website two days ago.

The note in which they report the news shows the company heartbroken with the rules of the WHO and the Australian health authorities: “It stinks, we know it,” they write and add: “After much external pressure, as well as deliberation between surfers, event staff and our sponsors, we have decided to err on the side of caution.”

The tournament, they warn, will not be postponed but cancelled, although there is still a chance that another edition will be held at the end of the year.

With this, the coronavirus has practically cancelled all surfing championships on the planet, the global WSL at least until March, the WSL Latin America for practically the first half of the year, ALAS as well and the World Surfing Games in El Salvador, as well as Tokyo 2020 is in doubt.
