Mexican Alan Cleland made the podium in Barbados

He placed third in the Live Like Zander Junior Pro held today at the Soup Bowl

Mexican Alan Cleland achieved another podium on the WSL Junior World Tour today on the waves of the Soup Bowl in Barbados, where the Live Like Zander Junior Pro was held, the last tournament on the world circuit for surfers under 18 before the big World Championship in Taiwan that will take place in the first 10 days of December.

With this result, the Pascuales native secured himself a spot among the top 10 in the North American region of the junior world tour. Last August, Cleland achieved a historic third place at the US Open, which, backed up by this third place, means that he finishes with a solid ranking.

In the grand final, the younger brother of CT member Griffin Colapinto, named Crosby, started off very strong with a wave of more than nine points that he later backed up with a 6,5. Kade Matson was second and Jet Schilling fourth.

On the way to the final, the Mexican went through three heats, all against surfers from the United States that included standouts Eithan Osborne and Cole Houshmand.

The result does not qualify him for the big World Cup in Taiwan, but, at 16 years old, it augurs well for his future and confirms a good present.

The Mexican has reason to be happy: he achieved another third place in a junior tournament on the North American tour. All photos: WSL/Nichols
