Mexican Sebastian Williams was runner-up in the Stab High

One of the world's most prestigious aerials tournaments announced its winners last night; Alan Cleland placed eighth; Nathan Fletcher made history by becoming the first judge to win one of the prizes up for grabs.

Mexican Sebastian Williams finished second in the prestigious aerials tournament organized annually by Stab magazine. For the first time in history, the championship was held in the ocean and not in a pool; the destination chosen was the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia, one of the best places to surf on the planet.

Among 12 of the best aerialists in the world, the Oaxaca native placed second thanks to a stalefish full rotation that he achieved on a right and a rodeo flip that he did on a left.

He added 41 points (24 on the right and 17 on the left) which were five behind the grand champion, Ian Crane of California, who scored 46 of a possible 60.

For his part, Pascuales local Alan Cleland had a good performance and finished the event in eighth place with 27 points.

The award for the “monster aerial” of the event went to one of the judges, Nathan Fletcher, who during a free surf session emerged from a tube to fly very high and received the shouts and applause of all the competitors.

Fletcher did not want to accept the award, but he had no choice.

Among the ladies, Caitlin Simmers was the winner thanks to her progressive frontside and backside surfing.
