Miguel Tudela: “That wave already paid for me for the year”
The Peruvian briefly tells what happened in Skeleton Bay, Namibia in the last few days, which included some of the best waves of the year surfed there.
“That wave has already paid for me for the year,” Peruvian Miguel Tudela told DUKE, referring to the six-tube set in one minute he rode last Tuesday in Skeleton Bay, Namibia.
“It was a strange series, up to that point I think it was the biggest of the day, Guillermo (González) went out on the first one, behind me came a wave that was impossible to drop, that didn't let me in and on the third one I went in head first, I couldn't let it go anymore, and the rest were six tubes in one minute (laughs),” said the Peruvian.
Tudela had already been to Skeleton a few years ago but says that he was a little young and that on this year's trip he found a "tube machine."
Regarding the rest of the group, he said that Gabriel Villarán “caught an incredible pair and also got a couple of switch tubes” and that “Jonathan (Gubbins) has been coming here for years and helped us with everything, my cousin is a great teacher, and he always breaks it, always a blast.” Gubbins also caught one of the best waves of the day last Tuesday.
Tudela said there was not much of a crowd and the challenge was the current that became strong in the afternoon.
“It was two epic days of waves, all day in the water, so now it’s time to go back home to train for Europe,” he concluded.
The third QS 2 of the year will be held in Pantín, Galicia, from September 7 to 10.000, with the participation of the young Peruvian Goofy Footer.
