Peruvian Miguel Tudela and Costa Rican Carlos Muñoz were confirmed for the US Open, the first of four Challenger Series events, which will take place in Huntington Beach, California, from September 20 to 26, the WSL reported in the file that shows the list of seeded players for the tournament.

Both of them are substitutes for CT athletes who will not be present at the tournament and who are not obliged to participate in it and are already guaranteed in the 2022 elite.

“And I got the wildcard for the US Open! I'm more than happy to share this news with you, now I have to train these two weeks of preparation before the trip and also waiting for the list of the other challengers from Europe,” wrote Miguel Tudela on his Instagram about this news.

Tudela and Muñoz join Alonso Correa, Lucca Mesinas, Marco Giorgi, Jhony Corzo, Brisa Hennessy, Leticia Canales, Tia Blanco, Daniella Rosas, Garazi Sánchez, Sol Aguirre, Dominic Barona and Leilani McGonagle, as all the Hispanics present in the upcoming tournament.

The California challenger is the first of four, which will determine the 12 men and six women who will add three stages to the final ranking, with the possibility of using one from the 2020 ranking, until March 15 when the competitions were cut short due to the pandemic.
