Miguel Tudela was invited to the Teahupoo trials
Kauli Vaast, Matahi Drollet, Mihimana Braye and Vahine Fierro all earned wildcards to the main event; local media doubts Slater's participation in the tournament
Miguel Tudela has been invited to participate in the prestigious trials of the eighth stage of the world surfing tour to be held next week in Teahupo, Tahiti, according to several media outlets and sponsors of the Peruvian surfer.
Tudela will have to face several of the best tube riders on the planet to try to get into the first or second place that will give the classification for the main event.
Last December, the Peruvian managed to become the first Peruvian to participate in a CT through trials, after finishing second in the Pipe trials.
Aritz Aranburu, who is annually invited to these trials, has not yet reported whether the invitation will be repeated. DUKE has contacted him and is awaiting his response.
In other news, Tahitian media reports that locals Kauli Vaast, Matahi Drollet, Mihimana Braye and Vahine Fierro have obtained direct wildcards to the tournament due to the large number of surfers who will be missing, including Medina, who, due to not having been vaccinated, will not be able to complete the quarantine in time.
Another person who, according to sources in the Tahitian media, is not vaccinated and is in the same situation is Kelly Slater.
