Mike Stewart's talk: Understanding how a tube works in detail
This Thursday at Chivipizza, one of the best surfers in history will explain in detail how a tube is created and composed and the use that can be given to this knowledge.
Special coverage presented by Chivipizza
Nine-time world bodyboarding champion and recognized best bodysurfer in history, Hawaiian Mike Stewart will be at Chivipizza in the port of Punta del Este on Thursday 26th presenting his work: Constructive Interference – The ultimate manifestation of wave energy.
As one of the most time-consuming people in the history of surfing, Stewart set out to thoroughly understand how a tube works.
Why is it that many times when a surfer falls into a tube he is thrown around and other times he comes out on the other side as if nothing had happened?
With the pandemic in the middle and a GoPro in hand, he tried to put a name and surname to each part of the waves and create something that can be shared and useful for other surfers.
This work, which was published in a recent edition of Surfer's Journal and at last year's Euro SIMA meeting, can be seen live on Chivipizza.
