Mimi Barona is now a Latin American surfing champion
Whether the women's tournament in El Salvador is one or two stars, no one can match the Ecuadorian
By finishing third in the Peñascal Pro that is currently being contested, Ecuadorian Dominic Mimi Barona was once again crowned Latin American surfing champion.
Neither Natalia Escobar of Chile, nor Karol Ribeiro of Brazil (placed third and fifth respectively in the event), nor the Peruvians Analí Gómez and Melanie Giunta can reach her even with the final tournament in El Salvador having two stars.
With this result, Barona added 1278 points and, added to the 3000 he had, he reached 4278 points, which cannot be reached with the 1000 or 1250 that could be given to the winner. Unless, of course, ALAS changes the level of the final stage again.
For her part, the third place achieved by Chilean Natalia Escobar places her in the qualification zone for Lima 2019, displacing Brazilian Karol Ribeiro to third place with 3423 points, who now has 3388.
