Luisma Iturria compiled the best that several filmmakers could salvage from a mind-blowing day of waves on the lefts of Montoya.

I titled it Montoya Trains for obvious reasons that aren't even worth explaining. The most wonderful thing was that a few days later, the blessed beach was giving away right-hand trains. Iturria almost came out of one of those incredible ones.

"On Wednesday, July 30th, Montoya transformed and gave us some tremendous waves, lefts that threw high barrels and ran long and evenly across the entire beach. According to what people were saying, it was the best day in years. The waves came in well aligned, and every set that rolled was a barrel. The water was filled with joy from all the surfers, celebrations, laughter, and a few sticks too. I saw waves I hadn't seen in a long time and I was surfing here at home with friends, and that is priceless," said the legendary Uruguayan surfer.
