Argentine Vicky Muñoz Larreta and Peruvian Valentina Escudero were the big winners of a new edition of the Latin Girl Arica Women's Surf Carnival that concluded yesterday on the waves of Arica Island.

Muñoz Larreta won in the Open and Under 18 categories, and Escudero in the Under 16 and Under 14 categories.

The remaining categories were won by the Chileans Javiera Quiroz (longboard), Constanza Soto (SUP Surf) and Antonia Gutiérrez (Bodyboard).

"I managed to unleash my surfing. The level was very high and, although the sea was slow, the waves I needed to win arrived," declared Victoria Muñoz Larreta.

“For its part, Bodyboarding delivered one of the most emotional moments of the competition with an all-Chilean podium. Constanza Soto from Antofagasta took the gold (8,00), followed by Viviana Araya (7,25) and Paloma Freyggang (5,35), both from Iquique. At 44 years old and six months pregnant, Freyggang demonstrated the full power of women on the Arica waves,” the event's press release highlighted.

The statement concluded: “Latin Girl Arica 2026 is consolidating its position as a platform to showcase the Arica and Parinacota Region as a world-class surfing destination. This effort was made possible thanks to the support of the Regional Government, the Municipality of Arica, Sernatur, the Costa Chinchorro Corporation, and the collaboration of Arica Siempre Activa – Corfo.”
