Carlos Muñoz and Miguel Tudela continued their good run on the small waves of Merewether, in Newcastle, where the second QS 6000 of the year is being contested. Both managed to get into round 5 (round of XNUMX) and are three steps away from the grand final.

Tudela handled a heat with few good waves well and finished second, behind Jack Robinson but ahead of Jackson Baker.

Muñoz made a very good aerial and received an eight with two minutes left on the clock and went first, leaving Pat Gudauskas and Jorgann Couzinet behind.

The Peruvian will now face Miguel Pupo and the Costa Rican will face the Frenchman Charly Quivront.

For Tudela, this is the third event of the year and the third consecutive one in which he has scored more than 1.000 points. Sitting in 16th position in the QS, with at least 1550 points the Peruvian is guaranteed to be among the top 10 in the entry ranking.

For his part, Muñoz is competing in his fourth tournament and his best result was in last week's QS 3000 when he placed (unfairly) 17th and earned 600 points. The Costa Rican will shoot into the top 40 and could climb much higher.

Meanwhile, Vicente Romero of Spain narrowly lost in round 4 to Alex Ribeiro and Charly Quivront.

The same thing happened to Mimi Barona, who was unable to beat Isabella Nichols and Malia Manuel, and to Brisa Hennessy, who fell to Sally Fitzgibbons and Teresa Bonvalot (a little while earlier, Josefina Ané, Leilani McGonagle and Malenie Giunta had lost (in a very close race, by 0,07).
