Nadia Erostarbe is the new European youth champion

Her passage to the semis and the defeat of all her possible contenders gave her the title and places her in the WSL junior world championship.


The surfer from Zarautz, Nadia Erostarbe, has just been crowned European junior champion after reaching the semi-finals of the Pantín Classic in Galicia and seeing her closest rivals fall.

The number two, number three and number four in the ranking, who had a chance of taking the lead, fell; Anat Lelior from Israel, Melania Suárez Díaz from the Canary Islands in the third round and finally Neis Lartigue from France in the quarter-finals, gave the Zarautz native the title.

Meanwhile, Erostarbe continued to advance, beating her compatriot Laura de los Reyes in the quarterfinals and will now face Frenchwoman Juliette Lacome.

With this title, the Zarautz native is now one of the two European representatives at the world youth championships, which will take place at the beginning of the year in a location to be confirmed.

To become champion, Erostarbe won a stage in Biscarrosse, France, then placed second in Espinho, Portugal, third in Caparica, also in Portugal and now improved a fifth with this third or better in Pantín, Galicia, Spain.

With the pressure of surfing for the title in this event, Erostarbe won her first heat, placed second in the second and easily won her crucial quarterfinals.
