Nahuel Cardona surfed a couple of good candidates for The Winter Wave

He went down some pipes yesterday, Wednesday the 26th; that's how he told it; "he was big and strong like few times before," he said

In the session of the year, in 2025, Nahuel Cardona caught the best wave of the day. He dropped in, got stuck in, barreled deep, and came out on a solid left.

Yesterday, Wednesday, August 26, he did basically the same thing.

But with a couple of incentives: He had been left wanting the day before when he got barreled but didn't come out by a hair, and with that feeling of searching for it for hours when there are waves but doubting whether you are in the right place or not.

The wave he surfed, or the waves he surfed, finally proved him right.

This is what Nahuel told DUKE: “Yesterday I was furious about that girl who died at the gate. And I saw that in the afternoon the sea had already started to come in, so I was putting all my chips on the left of Montoya, because I saw that it had shifted a little further southeast.

I woke up at 7 AM, Montoya wasn't there, and I wandered around until about 9, running into several surfers I knew from Maldo. Everyone was more or less in the same boat: the big question of where to go for the water.

In the end, I ended up diving alone on the 30, where there were some holes, but with an insane entry. Luckily, I managed to get through and went in easily. I was big and strong like I rarely am. I took a couple of tumbles on the first two holes, and the third was the best one, the one I'd been looking for. After a while, Luisma, Pupi, Panchito, and some other friends showed up.

Another epic day of the Uruguayan winter. Yesterday (Tuesday) was a nice day because it was a short course. Today was tough. But it got done.
