The special Natural Selection event, which last year took place on some incredible islands in the Indian Ocean and saw Alan Cleland place second, will return this year with a stop in "some wild corner" of South Africa, the organization announced on Instagram.
In the video they say they will improve on last year's: "10 days, on the edge of nowhere, 12 athletes, 2 winners, 1 event."
“NST Surf is back! And this time we’re changing oceans: from the tropical Pacific to a wild corner of the Atlantic. For 10 days, some of the most exciting surfers in the world will be camping in a remote area of South Africa, just steps away from unique and challenging world-class waves. Nature is ready. The ocean is alive. Who has the grit, the attitude, and the style to emerge victorious?” they wrote.
“The invitations and wild cards will be published later this month, right here,” they added.
Last year's event saw Soli Bailey and Mila Coco Brown win.
This is how those finals turned out:
1st: Soli Bailey
2nd: Alan Cleland
3rd places: Noah Beschen and Eithan Osborne
WOMEN
1st: Milla Coco Brown
2nd: Kirra Pinkerton
In the comments, one of the greatest free surfers in history, Albee Layer, said: "I want to be a part of this."
