Basque surfer Natxo González was also nominated for the award for best overall performance that the WSL will award tomorrow Wednesday at its annual big wave awards that will take place in Redondo Beach, California. The young man from Plentzia was chosen as one of the 15 in the world who had the best performance of the year.

González has already been nominated for the best wave of the year for the tube he took in Nazaré during the stage of the world circuit that takes place there.

The winning male and female surfers will receive $10.000 each, second place in each category $5.000, third place $3.000, fourth place $1.500 and fifth place $1.000. The top four male surfers and the top two female surfers will qualify for the Big Wave World Tour.

The awards recognize the best surfers of the past year based on videos and images captured.
