Natxo González was injured in Hawaii
He suffered a tear between his ribs and lung. It is not known how long he will be out of the water.
Basque surfer Natxo González was allegedly injured while surfing in Hawaii after competing in the Peahi Challenge, the surfer himself reported on his social networks along with a photo showing him in pain in a hospital.
“Unfortunately, this is how my trip to Hawaii ended, with a muscle tear between my lung and ribs. The worst part was the plane ride back, I had never had such a bad time,” wrote the young man from Plencia on his Instagram, who also thanked his filmmaker, Jon Aspuru, for accompanying him and taking him home.
González is now at home, but the severity of his injury is unknown.
The Plencia native was in Hawaii to participate in the Jaws Challenge, the second stage of the world big wave tour that took place on Monday in Maui. He placed 13th in the event and is now fifth in the world ranking.
Photos of him and Aspuru online showed them visiting the epic Honolua Bay after the tournament.
