New Zealand has secured its place at the World Beach Games, taking its place in the world championships according to the qualification criteria and calculations made by DUKE.

The document establishes that through this test the first nine eligible candidates are classified with a maximum of one per country and then the five best from each of the regions: Oceania, Europe, America, Africa and Asia.

For Oceania, all male competitors lost early and it is not possible for the nine places to be filled by other countries.

Zen Wallis placed third in round 2 of the repechage with a time of 10,07, which was better than the other Oceanian competitors in the event, representatives from Australia and a fellow Kiwi (who lost in that round) and those from American Samoa who had lost in the previous round.

This gives the spot to the New Zealand Olympic Committee and not to the surfer (the country may later choose to take it to Wallis).

For the beach games, the country wins its place and then decides who to take, and there is no individual qualification, as happens with the Pan American Games and the Olympic Games.
