Of the 16 male and 16 female competitors who started in the shortboard category of Pan American surfing that qualifies for Paris 2024, by gender, six remain in contention, four in the main event and two in the repechage.
Miguel Tudela, Lucca Mesinas, Alan Cleland and Francisco Bellorin are in round 4 of the main event one step away from guaranteeing a medal (if they continue through to the main event) and Krystian Kymmerson and Cody Young are in repechage 4 two steps away from guaranteeing a medal.
Among the women, Leilani McGonagle, Estela López, Tatiana Weston Webb and Daniella Rosas are in round 4 of the main event, one step away from guaranteeing a medal (if they continue through to the main event) and Sol Aguirre and Sanoa Olin are in round 4 of the repechage, two steps away from guaranteeing a medal.
It is worth noting that at the men's level, as Alan Cleland has already qualified for Paris 2024 and Krystian Kymerson is not eligible because the Brazilian quotas are already taken by CT athletes, only four surfers can be eligible for the Olympic Games: Tudela, Mesinas, Bellorin and Young.
Among the ladies, there are five surfers eligible to qualify for the games because Tatiana Weston is already qualified by the CT: Leilani, Estela, Daniella, Sol and Sanoa.
