The Vissla ISA Junior World Championships entered its sixth day on Thursday, bringing 28 surfers closer to the semifinals of the main event in the four categories up for grabs. Now 16 men and 12 women are undefeated, two heats away from making it to the grand final and winning medals.

Two of them are the Spanish Nadia Erostarbe and Lucía Machado, the first in the U18 women's semi-finals and the second in the U16 semi-finals, and another is the young Chilean Noel de la Torre who, in a sea of ​​Hawaiians, Australians and Brazilians, won his last two series and guaranteed himself a place among the world's top 11.

On the nation ranking side, the United States and Japan lead with all their competitors still alive in the tournament, with Team Hawaii and Australia following closely behind and France and Brazil also battling it out.

This year's championship is proving to be the most competitive youth world championship in history.
