Noel de la Torre was runner-up in the classic California event

The Rincon Classic, one of the favorite events on the coast, had a Chilean on two podiums and his brother León finishing fifth in the junior category.

Chilean Noel de la Torre continued his good run in the United States and last Sunday he placed second in the boys category (under 14) of the Rincon Classic and fourth in the junior category (under 18). This is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Californian coast and takes place on one of the queens of the island, that dream right-hand beach where Tom Curren developed his fine style called Rincon.

On the day of the event, the conditions were absolutely epic and De la Torre brought out the best of his backside to place second in the grand final, very close to Hamilton Jacobs who won and ahead of Curtis Jacobs and Tyler Chiarappa.

He also placed fourth in the junior category, where his brother León placed fifth.

“I managed to make two finals at the Rincon Classic this last weekend, a championship with a very high level of surfing and one of the best rights I have ever surfed (…) It could have been better. Still very happy with my backside evolution in waves of this level,” wrote Noel on his Instagram.

In the quarter-finals, the Chilean achieved the best total of the event, a 19,03, which he added thanks to a 9,7 and a 9,33.

The main event was won by Conner Coffin and featured everyone's favorite surfer, Dane Reynolds, among others.

Last week, competing in Oceanside, Noel de La Torre won the NSSA regional competition in his category.
