Nono and Mimi won the Puerto Rico ALAS

They put themselves in a good position to fight for the title and the place in Santiago 2023

Rafael Nono Pereira from Venezuela and Dominic Mimi Barona from Ecuador won the third and most valuable stage of the ALAS 2022 circuit, which concluded yesterday, Sunday, in the waves of Isabela, Puerto Rico.

Both repeated their victory on the island of enchantment, for Pereira it was a prime five-star hotel and for Barona a prime six-star hotel.

When the grand final arrived, the Venezuelan narrowly won against his compatriot JJ López and left the American Luke Gordon in third and the Costa Rican Oscar Urbina in fourth.

In the semis, Bryan Pérez and Martín Ottado (fifth) and Brian Toth and Kai Gale (seventh) had said goodbye.

On the women's side, Dominic Barona's backside attack gave her another victory; she beat Costa Rican Rubiana Brownell by a fair amount, who also deployed a good attack with her back to the wave. Local Jolari Carrera placed third and another Costa Rican, Indiana Ferri, fourth.

In the semi-finals, Rossany Alvarez and Mía Calderon left the competition in fifth place, and Jazmine Dean and Lucía Cosoleot in seventh place.

The ALAS tour continues through Punta Roquitas, Peru, where a one-star stage will take place on November 5 and 6.
