Surfers competing in Paris 2024 will stay on the Aranui, a cruise ship built in Rome that is used for trips to Polynesia, Olympic news website Inside the Games reported, and Brazilian AOS Media echoed statements by youth and sports minister Nahema Temarii.

The ship will also serve as a home for some officers and for the authority it acted as the only lodging option within 45 minutes as required by the authorities.

According to the ship's website, the Aranui can accommodate 230 passengers in its 103 cabins. It has a restaurant, a conference room, a library and a bar on its top deck. It also has a spa, a gym and the first tattoo studio at sea.

In an interview with DUKE in May, ISA President Fernando Aguerre said that this option was being considered as a possibility.

The Tahitian authorities have also announced that a new aluminum structure is being built to replace the one used by the WSL, which will cost $5,1 million.

It is also expected that this will serve as the centre of ISA activities, in the same way as Tokyo 2020.
