The ISA world champion will be announced on Wednesday
The ladies will go into the water first in Miyazaki
Presented by: International Surfing Association
The women's world champion of this year's Vans ISA World Surfing Games will be crowned on Wednesday, September 11, the ISA has just announced in a press release. From the 7th to the 9th, only women will be in the water, and men will not be allowed to enter the water until the 11th, the day of the finals.
This is presumably a response to how Pantín's QS 10.000 has been set up, with the women determining quarter-finalists before the men.
With this, in less than a week we will know the four surfers who will set foot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (pending the results in the CT and the 2020 World Surfing Games).
The disclosed schedule is as follows:
7 of September
Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony
Possible start of the Open Women category
September 8 and 9
Open Women
10 of September
Aloha Cup (TBD)
Open Women
Open Men Category Start
11 of September
Open Women Finals
Open Men's Competition Continues
15 of September
Men's Open Finals
Closing Ceremony
Meanwhile, the forecast, which had not looked very good a few days ago, has changed radically in the last few hours and, thanks to a series of nearby typhoons, it seems that there will be waves of between two and seven feet.
