After the 5th day, Brazil leads the Pan American Games, closely followed by Peru

The top 5 is completed by Canada, Argentina and Mexico in that order; the Aztecs are the only ones who have all the shortboarders, men and women, still alive in the event.

Brazil is the leading team in the Pan American surfing competition according to the partial ranking published daily by PASA. Peru is close behind and the top 5 is closed by Canada, Argentina and Mexico in that order.

Today, the entire men's open round 1 took place in the best and greatest conditions of the entire event. The only countries that survived the day with all their male shortboarders alive were Barbados, Brazil, Peru, Mexico and Costa Rica, and the only one that also managed to have all its women's open shortboarders alive was Mexico.

Powerhouses such as Argentina, Canada and Venezuela saw at least one surfer fall from their team.

Among the female shortboarders who had their first round yesterday, two countries besides Mexico managed to keep all four of their competitors alive: Puerto Rico and Canada.

The powerhouses Peru, Argentina and Brazil lost at least one of their athletes in this category.

Tomorrow, round 2 of the men's open competition takes to the water, then round 2 of the men's longboard competition, and the day ends with the SUP surfers who will define the semi-finalists and surely qualify for Santiago 2023.
