Panama elected new board of directors
Surfer and businessman Roger Castillero will be the president of the APS until 2022; one of his first measures was to hire Gary Saavedra as the country's new head coach

The General Assembly of the Panamanian Surfing Association determined on December 13 a new board of directors that has surfer and businessman Roger Castillero as president until 2022, as the entity announced on its Instagram account.
The rest of the new board is made up as follows:
President - Roger Castillero
Vice President- Denisse González
Secretary- Gabriel Fernandez
Treasurer -Fiorello de la Guardia
Fiscal Director - Fernando Alfaro
Vocalist -Marcos Saavedra
Member - Maria Teresa Quiros
The statement said: “Among the short-term goals are to implement the necessary amendments for the proper functioning of the organizational structure, to form the federation - for which the creation of clubs is intended - and to create an annual work plan.”
Saavedra is the new head coach
One of the quick decisions made by this new board was to hire the legendary 13-time national surfing champion, Gary Saavedra as the new head coach of the APS. He, along with Giovanni Greco, were chosen to be in charge of coaching the national teams.
In the long term, it also emerged that they wanted to organize the 2022 Central American Games.
