Panama is looking forward to the 2023 Pan American Surfing Championship

The only thing missing is the signing of the contract to confirm that the event that qualifies the most surfers for Santiago 2023 will be on the classic right of Santa Catalina

The 2023 Pan American Surfing Championship, the tournament that qualifies the most athletes for Santiago 2023 surfing, is very close to being confirmed, the president of the Pan American Surfing Association, Karin Sierralta, informed DUKE, after being consulted about a WhatsApp message that was shared among several surfers and which DUKE was able to access.

The message, shared between authorities and surfers, reports the following:

“Dear friends,

With great joy I inform you that the Pan American Championship qualifying for Santiago 2023 is confirmed in Panama, from April 20 to 30,
in Santa Catalina!!

Please take appropriate precautions.

Next week we will send the official invitation, as well as more information about it.

Thank you Roger Castillero for your good offices in making this event possible.

Good night 🙏🏽🙌🏽”

Asked about this message, Sierralta reported that among three countries that reached the final stages of the application to host the most important event for qualification for Santiago 2023, Panama presented the best proposal and that only the signing of the contract is missing.

Santa Catalina is a right-hand point break that has hosted a Masters World Championship and a World Surfing Games.

If confirmed, the following positions will qualify for Santiago 2023:

Men's Shortboard (8) eight spots.
