Parisian town of Sevran has applied to host surfing at the 2024 Olympics

They propose that it be done in a Wavegarden that will be operational from 2023

The French town of Sevran has submitted its bid to host surfing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the French sports agency reported. French Surfing Federation Last week, Stéphane Blanchet, the mayor of Paris, and Bruno Beschizza, the president of Paris Terre d'Eaux (the public territorial establishment of Greater Paris), sent a letter to the event's organizing committee.

They propose that the surfing test be carried out in a wave pool that is planned to be ready in 2023 and will have Wavegarden technology and will be able to generate 1.000 waves per hour and 100 surfers will be able to use it at the same time.

More surfing, skateboarding and breakdancing infrastructure will also be created for world sports delegations to train on.

Biarritz, which joined three municipalities, Capbreton, Hossegor and Seignosse, and Lacanau are the other candidates to host the Games. When it was announced that surfing would be part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in February this year, they presented their proposals.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will decide in December 2020 whether the competition will be held on a beach or in a swimming pool and the venue.

Despite the WSL's alleged continued efforts, there will be no pool for Tokyo 2020. For Paris, the WSL, owners of Slater's wave technology, is expected to make a major push to get surfing on that wave in the French capital.

A month ago, WSL CEO Sophie Goldschmidt said there would be two pools in Paris in the coming years.
