Óscar Urbina, Melanie Giunta, Thiago Passeri, Catalina Zariquiey, Noel de la Torre, Julián Schweizer, Kirra Silver, Yazdany Rangel and Claudia Castello shared the victories in the 10 categories that were contested in the ALAS of Guatemala that just concluded in fun waves of half a meter to one meter in El Rosario beach.

Zariquiey was the biggest winner of the day, winning in the under 18 and under 14 categories and placing third in the open women's category. Meanwhile, Noel de la Torre won in the under 18 category and was third in the open category, and Thiago Passeri won in the under 14 category and placed second in the under 18 category.

Two other athletes who achieved multiple podium finishes were the Mexican Maya Mateja who placed fourth in the open women's and under 18 categories and the Panamanian Víctor Camarena who was fourth in the under 18 category and second in the under 14 category.

With good aerials, Oscar Urbina won the men's open in a series that started slowly for him but then he adjusted the details to complete his aerials and go to the first.

Among the open ladies, Melanie Giunta started her 25-minute series badly and it was not until halfway through the final that she got going. Meanwhile, Rubiana Brownell started off active, catching many waves to earn 10 points.

A good right came for Giunta and turned the series around by hundredths.

The Peruvian said that her friend Mimi Barona, who lost her brother, the great surfer Israel Barona, had asked her to win the championship and that she ended up fulfilling her promise.

Melanie's celebration.
