Peru and Brazil qualified for Santiago 2023 through the ISA World Cup and secured their place in the World Beach Games
This puts Samantha Wilson from Chile, Inés Beisso from Uruguay and Iana Ramirez from Puerto Rico in the second largest multi-sport event in the world for their results in the Pan American Games in Panama.
Special coverage presented by Surf City - El Salvador Travel
The qualification of María Fernanda Reyes and Chloe Calmón to the final of the main event makes it certain that Peru and Brazil's passage to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games will be through the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Longboard Championship and therefore, that they will not use their country's slots in the Pan American Games in Panama.
Thus, Chilean Samantha Wilson, seventh in the event, qualifies using the local slot and Inés Beisso from Uruguay and Iana Ramírez from Puerto Rico occupy two more places, being the best and second best ninth in the Panamanian tournament.
All this is happening because the main event final will feature Brazil and Peru, Chloe Calmon and María Fernanda Reyes, and two surfers who are not from the Pan American region (the two French women Zoe Grospirón and Alice Lemoigne). This means that in the top 6 there will be at least two from outside the Pan American region and that being in the top 6 will definitely mean being in the top 4 eligible to qualify with the highest ranking for Santiago 2023.
What cannot be said yet is whether Reyes and Calmón are the ones who have qualified because the other Brazilian, Atalanta Batista, and the other Peruvian, Ana Camila Kaspar, are still alive in the event and can reach the final through the repechage and beat their compatriots.
At the level of the World Beach Games that will be held in Bali, since the classification is not individual, it can be said that both Peru and Brazil qualified for the event.
