There will be a Peruvian team at the Backdoor Shootout 2021, the Da Hui company reported in a letter sent to the team's surfers to which DUKE had access.

Last year, the historic presence of Peru at the traditional event was also announced, but it did not take place due to lack of waves. With a waiting period between January 4 and 16, there is hope that it will take place.

For that edition the team presented by Tubos Surf School was Álvaro Malpartida, Gabriel Villarán, Miguel Tudela, Joaquin del Castillo and Cristobal de Col.

Malpartida referred to the event on social media, saying: “I'm happy to announce that Team Peru from Tubos Surf School has been invited to the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout. Stay tuned, the waiting period starts on January 4th! Counting down the days to go to Pipeline with the gang.

In the statement accessed by DUKE, pertinent references are made to the fact that surfers on the beach must wear a mask due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
