Peru will have its QS 3000 in 2019
The Señoritas left will be the venue between March 27 and 31
Peru will host its first QS 2019 in 3000 after more than five years, WSL South America announced in its newsletter sent a few moments ago. The event, Tubos Perú Open Pro by Vissla, will take place between March 27 and 31 at one of the most surfed lefts in Peru, Señoritas in Punta Hermosa, about 35 kilometers south of Lima.
The announcement came alongside the announcement that Hawaii, Brazil's Fernando de Noronha, will host a QS 6000 between 19 and 24 February.
The WSL press release read: “It is with great satisfaction that the WSL South America announces two new additions to the 2019 event calendar. The first is the return of the Hang Loose Pro Contest to the Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, with a QS 6000 championship from February 19-24 in the tubes of Cacimba do Padre. The other is the debut of the Tubos Perú Open Pro by Vissla with a QS 3000 also only for the men’s category in the perfect waves of Señoritas, in Peru, from March 27-31.”
She added: “Both events will be very important for athletes from our region to earn points in the fight for the ten CT spots at the start of the 2019 WSL Qualifying Series season. Both will count towards the WSL South America title.”
The last international tournaments held in the Ladies category were the ISA World Surfing Games and ISA Junior Championships in 2010 and 2011 respectively, and the WSL Junior Championships held in 2006.
