Peru won the SUP Surf and took home two more golds

Vania Torres and Sebastián Gómez are the new Pan American champions; three days before the end, Brazil is the leader of the overall team ranking


The Peruvian team won two more gold medals today with the victory of Vania Torres and Sebastián Gómez in SUP Surf on the fifth day of the Pan American Games that took place in Punta Rocas on another day of perfect waves.

In the grand final, Torres defeated Brazilians Aline Adisaka and Gabriela Sztemfater (second and third) and Argentine Luchy Cosoleto (fourth). The Peruvian's powerful backside yielded 12,16, while Adisaka, who won silver, was far behind with 8,47.

Gómez achieved his goal after several attempts and after an entire career showing one of the best levels of SUP Surfing on the planet.

He won a highly competitive final with his compatriot Tamil Martino and Brazilians Wellington Reis and Luis Diniz. With good fundamentals, power and knowledge of the wave, he scored 16,33, which was well above Diniz's 13, Reis' 10 and Martino's 8.

The partial ranking for teams was released and shows Brazil leading despite the Peruvians winning three gold medals.
